Climbing to the M

A giant M on a mountain overlooks Bozeman, Montana.  It's an invitation to hike, so of course we did it (and Ellie and Dad took a detour on the way down).

Searching for the Falls

It took a while -- and Chris didn't think we'd get there -- but we took a detour on our hike up Hyalite Canyon to find a waterfall off the beaten track, and it was worth it.

Buffalo Butts!!

Maddy has a new obsession . . . Buffalo Butts!  The only animal she wants to see in Yellowstone (or anywhere else for that matter) is a buffalo, and she really wants to see those hind parts (unless they're pooping.  Ew!)  So here are some buffalo.

Across the Beartooths

After a fun lunch with the Grewells in Billings, we headed off across the Beartooth Pass, the nation's most scenic highway, and then back through Yellowstone.  It was 96 degrees when we left Billings, and 41 degrees at the top of the pass before the weather broke.  The weather changes help explain the photos of shorts in the snow!
When it was so cold, it wasn't clear the girls were going to enjoy the trip.

But who can resist taking pictures in the snow?

Hello Santa

With Poppa Jack in town, we made the trek to Sharon, Pennsylvania to see the Kraynak's Christmas display and visit Santa Claus.  Unlike two years ago, Maddy was actually willing to sit on Santa's lap -- indeed she was quite chatty with him, detailing all the things she wanted for Christmas, pictures of which she had put on a paper shoe.  Ellie participated too, but she may not be getting her Christmas wish.  When she told Santa she wanted an Eagles Super Bowl victory, Santa said don't bet on it.
